Fabric Laser and Wheel Cutter Technician

KBR is seeking a FABRIC AND WHEEL CUTTER TECHNICIAN to support our SPACE SUIT for KBR’s Science and Space division.

The TECHNICIAN will w ork on a collaborative team supporting our cutting operations, collaborating with our production and engineering teams, and ensuring the efficient functioning of our laser and wheel cutting equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of laser cutting technologies, proficiency in CAD software, and a keen eye for detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate closely with designers and engineers to understand project requirements and objectives.

  • Utilize CAD software to create and modify patterns, ensuring accuracy and feasibility for laser and wheel cutting.

  • Operate and maintain cutting tables, including setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.

  • Conduct quality control checks on cut objects to verify adherence to specifications and standards.

  • Manage inventory of fabrics and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the cutting lab, including equipment upkeep and workspace tidiness.

  • Stay informed about advancements in cutter technologies and techniques, and propose innovative solutions to improve processes.

  • Provide training and guidance to team members on cutting best practices and safety protocols.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues with cutters, such as software errors and cut failures.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must meet the requirements listed below to be considered for this position; please note required items on your resume.

  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.

  • Education: Must have a associate’s degree in the field of CAD DESIGN, ENGINEERING or a related field.

  • Years of Experience: Must have 2 years of recent and related work experience.

  • In lieu of degree : Candidates with 5 years of relevant work experience will be considered.

  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 2D modeling and design.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain various types of production equipment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities, with a track record of working in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to safety protocols and guidelines for working in a laboratory setting.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with fabric laser and wheel cutting machines is a plus.

  • Experience using PDM is preferred.

  • Aerospace experience preferred.

WORK LOCATION

This position is located onsite at an Axiom Facility.
