Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes

The Town of Webster is seeking professional candidates for the position of Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes to be responsible for supervising the operation and employees of the Town Clerks Office. The Town Clerk is required to attend all town board meetings and keep a complete record of the proceedings. They are responsible for issuing marriage, dog, fishing, hunting and games of chance licenses, in addition to accessible parking and peddlers permits. They are responsible for collecting all County, Town, School, and special district property taxes, as well as, posting legal notices and being the custodian of all town records.

Typical Duties: (including but not limited to) Supervises the operation and employees of the Town Clerks Office; Attends all town board meetings and keeps a complete record of the proceedings; Issues marriage, dog, fishing, hunting and games of chance licenses, in addition to accessible parking and peddlers permits; Collects all County, Town, School, and special district property tax payments, enters daily receipts, disperses monies to the levying bodies, and prepares reports of paid and unpaid taxes;
Serves as custodian of town records and documents, serves as town records management officer and responds to freedom of information requests; Prepares and posts legal notices;
Keeps records covering monies received, prepares daily deposits and balances accounts;

Special Requirements: The Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes is a public officer. Town residency is required. The successful candidate will be subject to preemployment screening, including a background check, driver license check and drug test.
Possession of a valid New York State license to operate a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
