Job Purpose and Impact
The Nature Based Solutions Manager will partner with Cargill’s Director, Nature Based Solutions, to build Cargill’s strategic approach to driving nature-based solutions and sustainable agriculture by ending deforestation in Cargill’s supply chains and developing strategies and action plans to protect and restore high conservation value ecosystems. In this role, you will lead Cargill’s participation in the Land Innovation Fund; lead select NGO engagements around nature-based solutions and deforestation; champion the development and execution of land use, nature and biodiversity related metrics for Cargill’s ESG reporting; and analyze and prepare recommendations for Cargill around new external framework related to land use, biodiversity, and nature-based solutions.
Form sustainability strategy and tactics for the assigned group, business and major supply chains related to land use, biodiversity, and nature-based solutions.
Contribute to develop supply chain policy, strategies and action plans in an integrated operating company approach.
Interact with customers directly and indirectly to ascertain their sustainability related needs and partner commercial teams in developing and delivering solutions to those needs to ultimately drive business growth.
Communicate sustainability policies and objectives to suppliers, including farmers, with the purpose of extending our supply chain policies and requirements through our suppliers.
Build and manage internal and external land use, nature and biodiversity related metrics for Cargill.
Identify and work with external partners like nongovernmental organizations, foundations, universities and government offices for program design, implementation, securing additional funding and project work.
Develop, maintain and apply industry leading expertise in sustainability as it applies to the relevant supply chains, sustainability topic area or geographies.
Represent the company in external senior level stakeholder forums and media in matters related to sustainability.
Other duties as assigned
Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Technical knowledge in environmental, economic and social benefits of sustainable development
Experience in identifying customer needs and developing solutions
Minimum of six years of related work experience
Education and/or Expertise in the area of ecology, ecosystems management, and/or forestry
Experience engaging with NGOs on sustainability issues
