Position Overview As a Mechanic, you will play a vital role in keeping Waushara County\'s fleet of vehicles and equipment in peak condition. This is a hands-on role that involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment, diesel engines, and more. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel Tier 4 engines, drive trains, electrical systems, hydraulics, and more. Overhaul engines, transmissions, and other critical systems. Perform seasonal maintenance, including winterizing vehicles and equipment. Use welding skills to repair equipment and fabricate parts as needed. Provide on-site service calls and assist with parts management. Operate and maintain county-owned equipment safely and efficiently. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent, with additional training in diesel mechanics. Experience in diesel engine repair, maintenance of heavy equipment, and welding (arc, wire feed, and gas). Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver\'s License (CDL) with air brakes, combination vehicles, and tanker endorsements. Ability to lift 100 pounds and work in adverse weather conditions.
