Team leader role responsible for a team of IT professionals and accountable for the end-to-end lifecycle of a set of business applications for design and software engineering teams. Coordinates with other IT leaders and experts as well as functional teams, users and leaders to optimize IT tools in the area of Design Engineering. A zealot for quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and user satisfaction.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • IT ownership of a significant portfolio of tools within the Engineering Tools team. This includes applications in the area of Mechanical CAD (Creo, Windchill, etc.), Electrical CAD (Cadence, Pulse, etc.), software management tools (Github, gForge, Jenkins, Confluence) as well as several other Engineering tools that aid in the design of our products.

  • Lead a team of experts to deliver value to the business through process improvements, application portfolio optimization(APO) and automation within the Design Engineering toolset.

  • Leverages deep process/domain expertise and partners with users and other IT teams such as the project management office and operations function.

  • Influences key stakeholders in design and planning decisions. Combines the customer vision with technical feasibility to convert business needs into functional specifications and user-friendly applications.

  • Works with users/stakeholders to prioritize needs.

  • Creates the strategic roadmap for each application.

  • Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area.

  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how engineering design tools integrate with other IT systems such as PLM and other enterprise applications.

  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.

  • Acts as a resource, coach and mentor for colleagues with less experience. Works to build consensus. Develops persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in the Engineering Tools space, specifically CAD, PDM, Software Management tools and the development of custom productivity tools.

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college or substantial experience in Engineering IT Tools.

  • Minimum 10 years experience in IT or related field.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with Creo & Windchill, Cadence & Pulse, Github, Jenkins.

  • Experience implementing and integrating with PLM systems

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
