As a QA Analyst, you will be a critical member of our team developing iPhone, Android and web apps that enable IoT devices. This isn’t an average position where you might be restricted to one small piece of an application, but the opportunity to test and validate high performing software as part of a commercial product.

As part of a closely knit and collaborative product team, you will be working with Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX/UI Designers, and Testers to deliver engaging IoT-based solutions for Generac customers. You’ll need to be well versed in mobile and web apps, API’s, cloud infrastructure, SQL and NoSQL databases and modern testing approaches and tools. Working closely with the technical team you will be responsible for executing test cases, developing simple test cases, and completing product testing under the direction of a senior level tester.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Write simple test plans. Execute test plans written by others. Record and document the results of the testing and provide insight into the variances between the planned results versus actual results to the software development team as appropriate.

  • Run Suite of regression tests to help support system releases.

  • Participate in backlog grooming and agile team meetings.

  • Help troubleshoot production issues.

  • Operates and maintains test accounts.

  • Improve technical expertise in testing tools and processes.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, Arts program or two-year degree plus relevant industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ months experience in software testing role (internship, co-op, or contract experience).

  • Prior testing experience including web, API, database, mobile applications, and IoT testing.

  • Prior experience troubleshooting web and mobile applications to identify field issues.

  • Prior experience creating simple test plans.

  • Prior experience providing status updates on work.

  • Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of testing activities and testing processes.

  • Able to work as part of a large implementation team that executes in an agile fashion.

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent time management skills, able to meet deadlines, manage time effectively..

  • Takes a collaborative approach to testing/troubleshooting.

  • Able to work collaboratively with other team members and take directions from other.
