Continental Resources Operator I in Watford City, North Dakota

Job Summary

The Lease Operator is responsible for the overall daily operation and maintenance for a specified group of oil and gas wells. The Operator I will demonstrate basic pumping skills through increased troubleshooting and problem-solving on routes that may include multi-well pads and CTBs.

Performs routine and structured work assignments. Contributes to tasks within a team, function, or work group. Basic knowledge of processes for the assigned work. Exercises limited independent judgment, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines. Works under direct supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with company HSE policies and demonstrate the ability to respond quickly and confidently to safety and environmental events.

  • Requires the operation of Company vehicles. Operator must drive safely to and from wells and well sites, maintain a clean driving record and adhere to Company policies.

  • Possess the right and obligation to stop work if unsafe conditions exist.

  • Measure and record oil, water, and gas production in eVIN. Ensure accuracy of run tickets and federal seal log.

  • Conduct production tests and perform routine repairs. Communicate corrective maintenance needs if unable to complete.

  • Perform operational checks of assigned wells. Identify and report changes in individual well performance.

  • Analyze production related problems and work with foreman, production techs, or other Lease Operators to resolve issues.

  • Monitor and condition oil, water and gas to meet specifications. Coordinate with third parties for sale or disposal.

  • Must be familiar with the operation of artificial lift systems including but not limited to rod pump wells, plunger lift, ESPs, gas lifts and flowing wells.

  • General lease site upkeep and maintenance (fences, signs, weeds, trash, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or GED).

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • May require the ability to pass a respiratory fit test.

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Housing within 50 miles of the assigned area of operation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers.

  • Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions

  • Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance.

  • Regular bending, crouching, pulling, and kneeling to check equipment and gauges.

  • Must be able to exert up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects.

  • Ability to work significant amounts of time as required in completing job responsibilities.

  • Working environment includes exposure to extremely loud noises in field, hazardous Chemicals, and Hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
