Science Education Consultant -- District & School Services
IN THIS ROLE:
You will offer guidance, professional development, consulting services, resource creation, and technical support to local school districts, public school academies, and Community partners in Oakland County, focusing on Science Education.
WHAT WE NEED:
- A dynamic and innovative individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to provide leadership and facilitate professional learning (both face-to-face and virtual).
- Assist with science-related mandates and initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison to external agencies, including the Michigan Department of Education, universities, and professional organizations.
- Develops curriculum resources to promote powerful and authentic 3-dimensional science teaching and learning in K-12 classrooms.
- Has thorough knowledge of assessment design and practices, including classroom summative assessment, performance assessment, formative assessment, and state/national assessments.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
- Highly collaborative, contributing positively to a teamwork environment.
- Work with stakeholders to identify and solve problems for diverse students, staff, and communities.
- Experience advocating for science education.
- Strong equity and growth mindset.
Knowledge of educational systems and frameworks.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Master's degree in Teaching, Educational Leadership, Curriculum, or Science required. Doctorate preferred.
- Current Michigan Teaching Certificate with related endorsement.
- Minimum of 4 years related experience including teaching in a K-12 setting.
- Experience teaching in a secondary school setting preferred, but not required.
- Experience leading the development of curriculum and facilitating adult learning (blended and inquiry-based).
- Ability to collaborate with staff to deliver professional learning and services responsive to student needs revealed by data.
Ability to develop positive and supportive relationships with classroom teachers, administrators, and staff.
SALARY DETAILS:
$98,989 - $114,797 based on experience, with the potential of earning up to $123,624 Annually / Exempt Position / 12-month work year
