Assistive Technology Support Specialist

IN THIS ROLE:

You will configure, customize, and install required applications and software and prepare Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for individual student use. Provide technical assistance.

WHAT WE NEED:

  • Configure, customize, and install required applications and software and prepare Assistive Technology and AAC for individual student use.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to Oakland Schools' consultants and LEA staff on the application of Assistive Technology and resolution of technical issues.
  • Manage the return of Oakland Schools assets loaned to Districts via secure communication channels with a variety of LEA contacts.
  • Provide support to the Materials Center daily operations.
  • Process orders and intake of materials from LEAs and internal staff.
  • Researches and evaluates new Assistive Technology.
  • Collaborates with vendors and technicians to resolve technical problems.
  • Design, create and distribute a variety of communication for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the AAC loan library of resource materials and equipment.
  • Conduct training workshops for new employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Associates degree required.
  • Six months of related experience.
  • Experience providing technical support related to general or special education, customer service, inventory management, or communications.
  • Specialized knowledge of current AAC systems including dedicated AAC devices, iPads, and Windows-based tablets

SALARY DETAILS:

$24.08 - $27.92 hourly based on experience, with a potential of earning up to $30.06 hourly / Non-Exempt Position / 12-month work year
