Senior Software Engineer
The Role
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Machine Configuration Operator (MCO) team. In this role, you will work as a part of a team responsible for evolving and supporting our Kubernetes native operating system management operator. The MCO (https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/machine_configuration/index.html#about-machine-config-operator_machine-config-overview) is a key component of OpenShift, operating the space between the installer and Red Hat Linux CoreOS (https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/architecture/architecture-rhcos.html) (RHCOS). It manages updates to systemd, cri-o/kubelet, kernel, NetworkManager, and many other components. It is at the heart of unlocking new capabilities and resolving new challenges as our product is adopted by new customer user cases. As part of a geographically distributed team, you will collaborate with multiple Red Hat’s engineering teams and open source communities to help our customers succeed. What you will do
Collaborate with multiple skill sets and disciplines to design, support, and debug enhancements to the Machine Configuration Operator.
Decompose complex tasks with engineers from multiple teams to continue our investment in supportable, scalable, performant, and secure architecture.
Contribute at a level that has direct technical impact on elements of business and/or meet customers' unmet needs.
Own your team’s component, measure and track its health, help colleagues and customers understand its functionality, and resolve issues that do not align with intended functionality.
Mentor and be mentored by others and provide and receive thoughtful feedback.
What you bring to the table
You enjoy and have experience with container runtime and Kubernetes.
You have a practice of continuous improvement and continuous delivery.
You can contribute to technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions.
You are a clear communicator, able to represent your contributions and ideas with clarity while remaining open to the contributions and ideas of others.
You have an eagerness to share your extensive knowledge of Linux systems.
You are regarded as a mentor and leader in expressing business needs in a language such as Golang, python, C, or Rust
You take pride in what you can do as part of a team.
