The Role
As the Youth Advisor, S2S Thought Leadership and Program Quality you’ll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will play an important role in leading and contributing to the growth and technical quality of the Skills to Succeed (S2S) and other youth employment programs, to help vulnerable youth achieve economic resilience. The advisor will play a key role within the department of Hunger and Livelihoods to help advance high quality implementation of S2S and other child poverty programs focused on youth, and will help co-lead S2S’s Knowledge Management, Learning and Communications (KLC) and Thought Leadership strategies and activities. The advisor will represent S2S and Save the Children in internal and external fora and will provide technical leadership, guidance and capacity building as needed.
The duration of this full-time position is 20 months, with the possibility for an extension.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)*

Thought Leadership, KLC (40%)
Implement KLC and thought leadership activities for the S2S and other youth employment programs.
Organize, lead, facilitate and support thought leadership and knowledge sharing events from conceptualization to implementation in collaboration with S2S Director and other key stakeholders. This includes S2S’ global communications campaigns, corporate engagement events, the 2025 Youth Global Summit, dissemination events, S2S’ Annual Learning meetings and S2S’ quarterly learning calls.
Develop S2S’ annual communication plan and collaborate with Country Office (CO) and technical staff to ensure implementation of the plan.
Develop, refine and disseminate (internally and externally) key program documents, working closely with technical staff and management. Program documents include case studies, success stories, technical and research briefs and reports, and other learning products, as well as communications assets e.g. videos, blogs, newsletters, etc.
Assess knowledge and learning needs and build effective, productive relationships with teams, external partners, organizations and donors to conduct high quality learning, knowledge transfer and thought leadership activities.
Develop and support approaches, activities and culture of knowledge sharing across S2S countries and within Save the Children.
Working with S2S, Technical Advisors and MEAL staff, contribute to the design, budgeting and operationalization of learning agendas for S2S and DHL, contributing to the evidence base for effective youth programming.
Lead activities for the production, copyediting, formatting and publication of program documents and communication materials and products.
Identify and manage vendors contracted to support special projects needs such as instructional design, translations, graphic design, and course design.
Ensure S2S’ content on the resource site is accessible, accurate and engaging.
Program Quality (40%)
Stay abreast of technical developments in the youth employment field, particularly in relation to promoting inclusive and resilient economic opportunities for youth that experience the most marginalization and inequality.
Provide direction and support to the design, testing, and evaluation of innovations to youth employment programming.
Produce technical guidelines and tools as required to facilitate technically sound program implementation.
Provide technical support to ongoing youth employment programs as assigned.
Introduce innovation and thought leadership in the design and implementation of youth programs including for topics such as gender equality and social justice, digital literacy and skills for the future of work, green skills and the green economy, systems approach, etc.
Provide guidance on high quality approaches for the implementation of youth innovation, youth participation and youth leadership in S2S programs. Work with country offices to ensure sound implementation of youth led activities such as S2S Youth Advisory Councils and Youth Led Advocacy.
New Business and Resource Mobilization Support (20%)
Support proposals development as assigned.
Support country office team members in analyzing information and formulating effective technical strategies, integrating best practices and, where appropriate, innovations.
Travel to the field to participate in design workshops, assessments, team writing assignments, and other proposal processes as needed.
Participate in proposal after action reviews, ensuring that lessons learned are incorporated into subsequent efforts
Required qualifications for the role
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in designing, developing, and implementing strategic KLC plans and socialization activities.
Experience in event planning, design, and implementation including managing and facilitating both online and in-person learning events, using a variety of engaging and effective adult learning approaches and e-learning platforms.
Experience in youth programming and program design.
Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
Preferred qualifications for the role
Experience in communications materials production, from concept to print.
Experience with website content management and use of social media channels
Experience working with private sector partners
Experience working with vulnerable populations i.e. ultra-poor, women, and migrants.
Experience working in Africa, Asia, Latin America or the Caribbean.
Professional proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $84,150 – $94,050 base salary
Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $76,500 – $85,500 base salary
Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $68,850 – $76,950 base salary
The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
