FANNIE MAE Senior Director, Ethics (Flexible Hybrid) in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Description In this compelling Compliance and Ethics (Cand ;E) leadership position, you are the corporate ethics subject matter expert responsible for running the internal operations and end-to-end management of Fannie Mae’s Ethics Program (FM Ethics). FM Ethics administers the Code of Conduct, manages the FM Ethics Line, manages conflicts of interest (COI) and business courtesies (BC) disclosures, provides policy advice and guidance, develops ethics programming, upholds Fannie Mae’s commitment to non-retaliation, and fosters and maintains Fannie Mae’s ethical culture through training, outreach, and conducting assessments.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Senior Director, Ethics role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own while leading a team and working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the FM Ethics intake function, including overseeing intake, triage, referral, tracking, and closing of inquiries and complaints.

  • Manage Fannie Mae’s COI/BC Program from disclosure to resolution, including overseeing and conducting substantive evaluations and assessments of potential conflicts, advising on appropriate mitigating conditions, and providing advice and guidance to impacted employees and business units.

  • Manage and administer the Code of Conduct and FM Ethics Program policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Develop and oversee Ethics programming, training, awareness, and outreach.

  • Regularly assess and develop programming to maintain Fannie Mae’s ethical culture.

  • Identify trends, emerging risks, and insights gleaned from Ethics data.

  • Prepare Ethics Program materials to regularly present to the Board of Directors.

  • Provide regular briefings to executive leadership within Cand ;E and across the company as appropriate.

  • Lead horizontal initiatives and enhancements to integrate FM Ethics throughout the organization.

  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships across Fannie Mae, including Cand ;E, Legal, HR, internal audit, investigative partners, and impacted business units.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with peer compliance professionals.

  • Establish and approve goals and KPIs to advance the Ethics Program.

  • Perform various team leadership functions, including fostering an inclusive and engaging work environment, facilitating regular performance and talent management processes, and developing strategic objectives for the team.

Qualifications *THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences*

  • 8 years ethics program experience.

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

  • At least 5 years of supervisory or management experience.

  • Excellent analytical capabilities as demonstrated by strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting an ethical culture and strong corporate values, professional discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters, and ability to comply with all organizational and professional ethical standards.

  • Candidates must be self-motivated, able to excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate flexibility in responding to changes in assignments and job responsibilities, and have the ability to maintain positive working relationships with business partners across the company.

Desired Experiences

  • At least 5 years of experience evaluating complex conflicts of interest.

  • Experience with and knowledge of the financial services industry regulatory environment.

  • Experience analyzing inquiries and complaints and interpreting corporate policies related to financial reporting, fraud, data exfiltration, harassment, discrimination, conflicts of interest, retaliation, among others.

  • Experience with program level management and overseeing multiple ongoing projects.

  • Experience with implementing technology, including onboarding, implementation, and change management.

  • Experience with data analysis, interpretation and visualization.

  • Experience with risk assessment, mitigation, and management.
