Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Enterprise Services, Office of Human Resources Management, HR Policy and Programs Directorate, National Program Division, located in Washington D.C. Responsibilities This position will allow you to use your expertise in managing and overseeing various programs which have an agency-wide and government-wide impact. This position starts at a salary of $163,964.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $191,900.00 (GS-15, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Typical work Duties include: Focusing on retirement processing, benefits advisory services, and other national level programs. Planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the implementation of agency-wide programs and programs affecting the employment and retention of agency employees. Directing program segments that performs a variety of diverse programs and/or services that are professional, technical, and/or administrative in nature. Directing the Retirement and Benefits Branch, Workers' Compensation Branch, and Medical and Fitness Branch through subordinate supervisors. Coordinating services for employee benefits to include retirement benefits, workers' compensation benefits for employees injured while on duty, medical case management, and managing the CBP's Drug Free Workplace Program. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Ensuring that an effective program is in place to identify training needs and developmental opportunities of the staff and that the needs are met in the proper time frames. Reviewing and recommending action on current and budget year programming and reprogramming actions to assure effective objective accomplishment within available resources. Coordinating new or updated guidance with stakeholders to ensure guidance addresses strategic and tactical program concerns, takes care of employees, and reduces program costs to the extent practicable. Developing guidance needed to apply higher level policies and new or changed programs. Evaluating the effectiveness of the organizational elements in terms of mission accomplishment. Additional Information Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18-month probationary period upon appointment and complete a supervisory training course within 12 months of assignment. Leadership Training: All newly appointed GS-15s are required to complete mandatory training. Training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 5 weeks of in-residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.
