Your New Role…

CNN is looking for a 3D designer to join the New Media team as a Producer I/Unreal Artis. The ideal team member will work to create visually engaging stories for our viewers, working closely with show teams and on-air talent with a focus on producing content in the Magic Wall, virtual studio and for augmented reality for visual news stories including the 2024 primary and general election.

The ideal team member is a creative leader who can create visually engaging stories for our viewers who combines their skills in storytelling with a technical understanding of augmented and virtual reality.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of a team and help shape the way CNN approaches technology in storytelling and visual journalism.

Your Role Accountabilities…

The Producer I will serve as a leader in design by collaborating with the team and other producers to come up with a concept and plan and execute those short and long-term projects. While they will be responsible for 2D and 3D design, they will be expected to teach and mentor others.

We are looking for a self-starter, creative thinker, and clear communicator with experience in a fast-paced, intense and demanding environment. It is also essential that this person be a motivated team player who is excited about the future of the intersection of design, innovation and news. It also will help to have a spirit of adventure, as we’ll be experimenting with new approaches on emerging platforms.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, 3D art or similar

  • 5+ years’ experience with virtual studios, mixed reality or related field (News experience a plus!)

  • Experience in creating high quality 3D assets using 3D modelling software (Unreal Engine, C4D, Blender)

  • Experience with video capture, production, compositing and editing

  • Experience in 3D game engines (Unity, Unreal)

  • Knowledge of high-level coding and scripting languages

  • An affinity to collaborate

  • Ability to travel and work weekends as needed
