Summary This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing,FACILITIES SUPPORT SERVICES DIVISION. As an IRON WORKER, you will perform various duties related to the installation, dismantling, repair, and maintenance in the main and annex buildings of the Bureau. Responsibilities As an IRON WORKER, you will: Install: Structural steel such as channels, I-beams, angles, hangers, supporting rods and brackets. Wire grille work on windows, partitions, doors etc. Dismantle: Prduction equipment catwalk and safety rails. Obsolete structural steel me, rods and brackets for renovations. Channels, I-beams, angles, metal fences. Repair: Worn or broken parts such as transoms, window frames, sash chains. Turnstiles and rolling overhead door pin locks, metal fences; hand trucks. Fabricate: High security vault enclosures, ink dollies, metal railing (excluding threaded pipe); pipe (non-threaded) or tubing stanchions for security or safety barriers. Ornamental iron work and numerous miscellaneous items made up of structural shapes, non-threaded pipe, tubing, plate, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Physical Requirements: Work requires considerable standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting of heavy items. Frequently works from scaffolds, ladders, and power lifts. Works in cramped positions and small spaces. Local 100- Sheet Metal Workers International Association (Sheet Metal Mechanics) The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A one year probationary period may be required. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
