Job Summary The Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring a consistently high standard of customer service, cleanliness, product presentation, leadership, and sales pertaining to coffee, specialty beverages, along with hot and cold food items. This role includes completing guest transactions and assisting employees with refunds and related matters in a courteous, precise, and efficient manner. Additionally, the Shift Manager shall supervise the café in the absence of the General Manager. And many more! Essential Functions: In the absence of the General Manager, Shift Managers must coordinate and oversee breaks and lunch periods. Implement the daily staffing plan. Engage in effective communication with Shift Managers and employees during shift changes to ensure a seamless transition. Delegate and complete daily cleaning and breakdown assignments as specified. Assist with catering orders as necessary, ensuring that all orders are thoroughly checked prior to departure from the store. Aid guests through courteous interactions, addressing inquiries, and processing sales on the register/POS system in an accurate, efficient, and friendly manner; likewise, assist employees in this regard. Maintain store displays daily through stock rotation, cleaning, organization; restock and manage supplies as necessary. Receive and verify merchandise quantities, organize inventory within the store, and arrange displays accordingly. Identify items along with their corresponding costs, and efficiently tabulate bills utilizing a cash register, calculator, or other pricing equipment. Accurately issue receipts, refunds, credits, or any change owed to customers. Submit the cash drawer and perform sales reconciliation at the conclusion of each shift. Remain vigilant regarding safety concerns and report any issues immediately to your General Manager. Perform any other related duties as directed or required. Focus on Quality: Take pride in cultivating expertise in the art of culinary preparation and crafting high-quality handcrafted beverages. Prepare beverages according to established recipes. Conduct food safety and quality inspections. Cook food items upon request while ensuring a timely presentation and serve them promptly to the customer. It is essential to possess a thorough understanding of the store's recipes to effectively assist customers with food allergies. Skills & Knowledge Requirements A minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant supervisor/manager experience in a high-volume setting is required, along with the capability to oversee a team of up to 8 individuals. Ability to obtain Managers Food Safety License and ABCA. Adapts effectively to challenges. Recognizes opportunities for teaching and offers redirection and coaching as deemed appropriate. Utilizes available resources to avert the emergence of additional issues. Cultivates an environment conducive to productivity. Fosters an atmosphere that encourages engagement and instills pride in creating joyful experiences for all partners and guests. Promotes teamwork and inspires partners during their shifts to navigate changes and attain objectives. Directs the team's focus towards fostering moments of connection. Establishes the tone for the shift by building rapport with partners and exhibiting a positive demeanor. Coffee equipment, including grinders, brewers, espresso machines, and other related devices. Touch-screen computer or point-of-sale (POS) system. Credit card processing machine. Physical Requirements Engaging in ambulation to fulfill responsibilities, particularly involving frequent transitions from one location to another within the unit. This includes the necessity to bend, lift, carry, and extend arms and hands above shoulder height on a regular basis, or otherwise navigate within a continuously evolving environment. The capacity to lift, carry, and push weights of up to 25 pounds regularly, 30-35 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The ability to maintain a standing position for the entirety of the workday. Experience: 2-3 years of closely related management experience, working in a high-volume environment Comprehensive understanding of point of sale systems, coffee equipment, and food preparation Proficient ability to manage staff as large as 8 partners Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor Must have excellent communication and customer service skills Requires the ability to lift and or move up to 40lbs Ability to work as a part of a team Effective oral and interpersonal skills
