Data Governance Specialist

Fully remote or Hybrid, seeking candidates based in DMV Area Locations - Richmond, Charlottesville, Virginia Beach, Baltimore, etc.

The Position:

We are seeking a Data Governance Specialist to support a federal client in managing data governance implementation for the CFO's office. Some examples of responsibilities include:

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of client issues, needs, and contexts related to data governance including:  implementing data standards, data policy, data security, and data processing procedures in alignment with the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA)

  • Share insights, results, and recommendations in a comprehensible manner through both written presentations/reports and interactions with teams/clients to drive best practices and process improvement in organization-wide data governance

  • Evaluate data management tools, templates, and other enablement, and makes recommendations about their selection

  • Support integration efforts with cloud services/storage, on-premise data centers, and other software and  infrastructure for the client

  • Support the development and maintenance of an enterprise data model, including a data taxonomy that aligns with the statutory and strategic frameworks aligned with client needs

  • Work with client stakeholders and working groups to develop process maps, project plans, and identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvement

  • Lead discrete deliverables and / or workstreams  related to data governance management 

  • Develop program collateral in the Google Suite, including Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets

  • Proactively identify program risks, and deploy mitigation strategies

  • BA / BS Degree

  • Consulting experience supporting data management and data governance including expert knowledge of implementing data standards, data policy, data security, and data processing procedures in alignment with the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA). 

  • Junior Level: 0-3 years

  • Mid Level: 4-7 years

  • Senior Level: 7-10 years

  • Experience within the General Services Administration (GSA) highly valued

  • Ability to obtain a public trust security clearance

  • Excellent customer service skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytic skills.

  • Experience creating, analyzing, and presenting surveys and data analysis

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Ability to build a strong degree of trust with the client

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail related to project management and task/deadline tracking

    The Fine Print :

  • Expected travel 0-10%; may increase based on business needs 

  • This is an exempt, full-time position
