Koniag Technology Solutions, LLC is seeking a Cost Estimator in W ashington , DC to act as primary contact between our office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) The Cost Estimator will have essential multi- discipline team representation and be self-motivated, well organized, design oriented, and customer focused.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate consistent and accurate pricing, ability to develop accurate conceptual cost models.

  • Understanding construction methods, productivity, equipment, systems, and materials.

  • Keep track of current material & labor pricing including escalation.

  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors & material vendors.

  • Make meaningful value engineering contributions.

  • Ability to reconcile estimates with other consultants & design team.

  • Serves as “Job Captain” for pre-construction efforts.

  • Quantity take-off and pricing accuracy.

  • Strategic Bid Preparation to include efficient strategies and competitive pricing.

  • Preparing technical narratives.

  • Complete subcontractor/vendor solicitation.

  • Understand and analyze proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate as well as code related compliance.

  • Prepare bid packages and create scopes of work.

  • Conduct detailed review of bids for scope gaps and ensure adherence to plans and specifications.

  • Track awarded contracts as required to include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, assist in development of project preplan.

  • Expand database of subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Develop, improve, and maintain in-house procedures for the estimating department.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering (at least six years estimating experience) in commercial construction within all divisions. projects having estimated costs ranging from $100,000 to $15,000,000.

  • Estimating experience from conceptual through construction document phases required.

  • Knowledge of estimating software such as Timberline, Cost Works, RS Means, MCACE, or others.

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Construction management, Architectural Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Technical knowledge of various mechanical and electrical systems as well as experience in all structural/architectural disciplines and code and regulatory compliance.

  • Top Secret Security Clearance.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
