Job Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Incumbent should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form, possess verbal and written communication ability. Must be proficient in the operation of kitchen machinery and basic cooking utensils.

Job Summary :

This position is primarily responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus for dining venues and catering. Additional duties include assisting Sous Chef or Chef wit execution of production as well as assuring the department is sanitary and meets regulatory guidelines. Provides some supervisory support to Sous Chef and Executive Chef.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follows all standardized recipes set by the Chef for the production of all breakfast, lunch and dinner meals.
  • Maintains high standards of quality food production and portion control in food preparation and
  • Follows menus provided by the Chef and makes changes only with the consent of Sous Chef or Chef. Ensures adjustments are close to set recipe and logs changes made in the wall log book.
  • Prepares all meals at the proper time and in sufficient quality of food to meet the service requirements.
  • Checks temperatures of all food prior to meal time to ensure compliance with health and food regulations.
  • Delegates food preparation duties down to cooks as appropriate and follows up with cook to ensure proper preparation and production of meals.
  • Maintains proper sanitation and safety in the food preparation areas.
  • Prepares food for Health Center according to dietary specification set by the Dietician.
  • Utilizes left over foods as directed by the Chef for another meal period. Stores leftover food in proper containers and labels appropriately.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all food preparation and production areas in compliance with state and federal health regulations.
  • Maintains professional presence when representing Ingleside; exhibits degree of professionalism consistent with standards in performance, behavior, and appearance.
  • Complies with applicable safety policies and procedures as prescribed by the organization, as well as government regulations.
  • Conducts monthly department safety and sanitation audit and reports to Executive chef and director of dining services.
  • Attends community safety committee meetings and reports back to team.
  • Provides assistance toresident,visitor, oremployeein an emergency situation; following the proper emergency procedures.
