Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Center of Legislative Archives. The incumbent will provide essential daily support to the Center's team of Reference Archivists which entails promptly pulling records, providing accurate refiling services, managing reference and loan documentation, and providing daily records delivery and pick-ups of records to U.S. Senate House Representatives Committee Offices to support the daily business needs of the Congress. . Responsibilities As an ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, you will: Process and monitor reproduction orders. Communicate and act as the primary liaison with Congressional offices and other offices within NARA. Gather data, prepare reports and provide general administrative support to the Assistant Director. Pull records utilizing the appropriate forms and procedures without supervision and re-file those records. Check accessioned records for completeness and assist with their placement in the stacks. Deliver and pick up records of the U.S. Senate and House of Representative. Requirements Conditions of Employment The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. The position includes a combination of desk work and stack area work, requiring some sitting, bending and carrying of light objects (to approximately 25 lbs.). Specialized Experience for the GS-7 level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-6 level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience: Performing archival functions such as arrangement, preservation, accessioning, reference and loans; AND Using judgement of established archival procedures and practices; AND Communicating and assisting various audiences. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks.
