What You Will Do
Reporting to the Principal and/or Academy Director:
Instructional Coaching
Coach, develop, & manage a team of 6 - 8 teachers daily
Work closely with the Principal and instructional leadership team to ensure that the core curricula are implemented with fidelity
Regularly review teacher-created materials for quality; ensure standards alignment, rigor, differentiation, etc.
Regularly observe instruction and offer immediate and actionable feedback regarding areas of strength and growth
Instruct teachers on curriculum development protocols and processes
Support teachers in developing and implementing targeted interventions
Hold and facilitate weekly one-on-one coaching and development meetings with each teacher
People Leadership
Collaborate with leadership to plan and lead Summer Institute and ongoing team meetings
Develop and implement individual professional growth plans for assigned platinum teachers
Track/monitor teacher responsiveness to feedback as evidenced by implementation of strategies, action plans and weekly goals
Review and provide feedback on lesson plans and materials for classroom instruction
Complete formal and informal observations of teacher caseload
Maintain a culture centered on our ethos and core values of Determination, Respect, Enthusiasm, Accountability, and Mastery
Professional Development
Support the planning and implementation of weekly professional development aligned with campus goals
Oversee effective and frequent communication with families from teachers
Attend and facilitate professional development as needed
Data Management
Track scholar and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of coaching
Set data-driven academic goals and outcomes for teachers, and monitor progress and adjust as necessary towards the same
Support teachers in the implementation of ongoing assessment, data collection and data analysis to ensure mastery of standards across the content areas
Track/monitor teacher responsiveness to feedback as evidenced by implementation of strategies, action plans and weekly goals
Community, Collaboration, and Professionalism
Provide leadership to all staff and scholars in establishing a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture
Prepare periodic team notes to provide ongoing communication with platinum teachers
Improve your practice through regular formal and informal observations, weekly coaching sessions, weekly professional development, data-driven reflection, and self-learning.
Be willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary to fulfill Achievement Prep’s mission for our scholars
Manage time, tasks, deadlines and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and hold others accountable for the same
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher
4+ years of experience as a English and/or Humanities teacher of record in a K – 8 setting, preferably in historically underserved communities
1+ teacher leadership experience (grade level lead, department chair, mentor teacher, instructional coach etc.)
Proven track record of success with student outcomes
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education
