JOB REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of this position is to administer and enforce Bayfield County\'s Zoning, Sanitary, Shoreland-Wetland, Floodplain, Subdivision, NR-135, WI Fund Program, and related ordinances, in addition to assisting the Director of Planning & Zoning. Examples of Duties: A. The following duties are normal for this position. These shall not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. B. Review land use permit applications, inspect proposed land use sites, and issue or deny permit requests. C. Investigate complaints relating to zoning, sanitation, shoreland-wetland, floodplain, and subdivision ordinance violations, and issue citations when appropriate. D. Responsible for reviewing Certified Survey maps and subdivision plats regarding site specifics such as flood plain limits and setback requirements. E. Attend annual re-certification and continuing education classes. F. Provide information to the Zoning Committee, Board of Adjustment, Town Boards and Plan Commissions, realtors, local contractors, and the general public. G. Provide advice to property owners or their authorized agents on solving difficult site issues. H. Assist Town Boards with implementation of their Comprehensive Plan/Land Use Plan and the amendatory process. I. Perform duties of the Director of Planning & Zoning in the absence of the Director. J. Develops stormwater and mitigation plans as necessary to issue land use permits. K. Provide recommendation on implementing new or proposed ordinance administration and enforcement. L. Assist in reviewing certified soil tests, sanitary permit applications. POWTS plans, and the inspection of POWTS installations prior to backfilling for compliance with current state requirements and county ordinances. M. Assist with training of new employees. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: A.Four year degree in a Natural Resource, Law Enforcement, or related field. B.Two years verifiable experience in Land Use Planning, Environmental Health, construction, or related field. C. A combination of higher education and experience may be substituted for experience. D. Experience with sanitation, code enforcement, and/or POWTS installations and/or inspections. E. Possess both state certification as a certified Soil Tester and POWTS inspector, or, obtain one certificate within six months and the second certificate within 12 months from date of hire. F. Possess a valid Wisconsin driver\'s license. Physical Requirements: This position involves field work during all four seasons. Other elements of physical demand such as seeing, hearing and color perception are used to make judgments both in the field and in the office. The position involves reading plans and maps. Light lifting up to 20 pounds on occasion is an aspect of the job.
