Description

The Town of Warsaw (population 2,281), located an hour from Richmond in Virginias historic and picturesque Northern Neck Region, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Class II Wastewater Treatment Operator II. Warsaw is a growing community with many large-scale projects on the horizon. We welcome you to join our team and our dynamic work environment!

This position will serve as an Operator II at one of the newest wastewater treatment facilities in the region. The Warsaw Wastewater Treatment Plant is a modern, 300,000+ gallon facility that also contracts with an outside engineering firm for both employee and DEQ support services.

This position is full-time with an excellent benefits package that includes health, vision and dental insurance at no cost to the employee, paid time off and holiday pay that includes all Federal and State holidays, and inclusion into the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). The employee will also receive a take-home vehicle, cell phone, and occasional overtime compensation. Shift hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $63,000, DOQ/DOE

Plant Operator Duties

  • Operation of the wastewater treatment plant and laboratory; participating in the preparation and maintenance of appropriate records.
  • Operates and maintains the wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, sludge operations and laboratory operations.
  • Makes regular and irregular inspections of equipment and facilities.
  • Analyzes plant and laboratory records and logs and directs the adjustment of processing methods to improve plant efficiency.
  • Prepares reports on plant and pump station operations for submission to superiors and regulatory agencies.
  • Assists with the development and recommendations of short- and long-range plans for the improvement of treatment facilities and systems through the acquisition and installation of improved equipment and through the use of improved techniques and processes.
  • Adheres to plant safety and other procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with discharge permit; Performs occasional Operator in Responsible Charge duties.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Employment Requirements

  • Current Certified Class I/II Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator License.
  • Possession of valid VA Motor Vehicle License.
  • Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required, as needed.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and requirements within the field.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and professional relationships with coworkers, leadership, and outside organizations.
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
