DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves responsibility for performing staff support services related to Eligibility Programs within the Department. The incumbent needs to have high organizational ability and flexibility while also being direct, yet approachable; Responsible for data collection, entering and reporting of employment activities in databases and in the Welfare Management Computer System meeting with individuals to answer any questions they may have regarding employment, benefits processing and completing other staff support duties related to eligibility determination programs. The work is performed under general supervision with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Satisfactory completion of a minimum 30 semester credit hours from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university in the field of human services, community service, education, customer service or a closely related field; OR
B. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year full time experience employed within the Department of Social Services.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid NYS Driver's License.
