What You Can Expect

Responsible for providing manufacturing engineering services to support efficient manufacturing processes. Engineering services include process development, process validation, cell management, project management, tool design, and troubleshooting.

This summer intern will work with our Extremities Operations team, providing manufacturing engineering support for Extremities process and work center optimization.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Maintaining and improving controlled technical documents such as prints, procedures, bill of materials and routers.

  • Supporting a wide variety of processing applications such as machining, finishing, cleaning, laser etching, wire EDM, shot blasting, and polishing, etc.

  • Conducting feasibility study to estimate product cost and analyze capital equipment, capacity, and capability requirements.

  • Improving process methods which meet performance and quality requirements.

  • Executing to project plans and schedules for work activities.

  • Communicate (written and verbal) with appropriate personnel from other departments.

  • Evaluating multiple options to select the most appropriate processes and machining methods

  • Execute equipment qualification or process validation project(s)

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Ability to balance quality, compliance and safety to meet customer requirements

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple medium complexity project assignments and complete work in a timely manner

  • Good problem solving skills through the use of quality and statistical tools

  • Ability to effectively work within a cross-functional team to complete critical project tasks

  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite and Project

  • Yellow belt training

  • 3-D printing knowledge as well as advanced software such as Pro-E and CREO

  • CAPA knowledge and the process to complete per FDA guidelines

Your Background

  • Must be actively enrolled in an academic program for the entire duration of the assignment.

  • Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program. Mechanical Engineer majors preferred.

  • GPA of 3.0+ preferred

  • Experience working with layout design and 3d modeling as well as process improvement work using the DMIAC model is a plus.
