We are seeking Environmental Planners at Senior and Principal level to join our team on a permanent basis. These positions are national roles, with the opportunity to be based in Reading, Bristol, Warrington or London. We can offer you a mix of home and office working which will help maintain a good work life balance and effective team working.

Our broad based growth means we are supporting projects across multiple sectors including major development (new communities, regeneration, employment, etc.), energy and transport developments helping to secure and implement planning permissions. Our work currently includes establishing an internationally important low carbon smart campus at Gravity (generating 7,500 new jobs), new garden communities including in Oxfordshire and Essex, and supporting a new crossing of the River Thames.

As we are currently supporting some of the country’s most significant projects we are seeking a candidate whose ambition matches our own.

You will have experience in the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams to secure planning permissions for major development and infrastructure projects. You will be able to work closely with clients and fellow professionals to inform their development strategy and support it through to delivery.

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of regeneration, development and infrastructure projects as appropriate

  • Involved in all elements of project delivery from preparation of proposals through to completion

  • Work with senior members of our team to develop client relationships and deliver our growth strategy

  • Manage and contribute to single- and multi-disciplinary bids

  • Project manage Stantec’s multi-disciplinary input to projects

  • Coordinate environmental teams, including Environmental Impact Assessment teams, and manage the production of Environmental Statements

  • Provision of wider environmental planning services, including health, social impact, sustainability, energy, waste and materials, and lighting; and helping us develop these services.

  • Developing and mentoring of more junior members of the team

This role offers the opportunity to work in a truly multi-disciplinary environment, giving access to a broad knowledge base with the support of experts across the business. It is anticipated that the role will include supporting and managing the delivery of a broad range of environmental planning work streams, to deliver integrated environmental services.

About You

You’ll be degree qualified in a relevant discipline and will ideally be chartered.

You will have strong technical knowledge and demonstrable experience in applying this to challenging projects. You will have experience of working within project teams, and ideally have experience in supervising or mentoring more junior team members. You will also have the necessary skills and experience to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders where you will be working closely with clients, and other professional staff across multi-disciplinary business groups. You will also have experience of the financial, technical and programme management of projects.
