Omnicell Mechanical Designer III - Hybrid in Warrendale, Pennsylvania

Work as a principal member of a multi-disciplinary product development team to assess customer needs, generate concepts, create requirements, design, test and support the transition of electromechanical and robotics-based devices and systems from development to manufacturing and then the field.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Engineering and other cross functional teams to create mechanical design/documentation packages from ideas, rough sketches, red line drawings and/or notes for new product development as well as improvements/revisions to current products.

  • Responsible for creating and/or modifying detailed designs using 2D and/or 3D modeling tools including the creation of models as well as detail, assembly and layout drawings.

  • Responsible for providing design support to Engineering for research, concept, prototype and alpha level product development and/or support efforts.

  • Participate in product concept meetings, design reviews and product release / design transfer process.

  • Responsible for assisting Engineering and other cross functional teams with fabricating, assembling, and testing of large-scale electromechanical robotic systems.

  • Responsible for creating layout drawings for equipment installations at customer sites.

  • Provide technical support to junior level and intern level designers.

  • Estimate, manage, and report time required for multiple, concurrent tasks

  • Execute on quarterly goals

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Relevant experience working with Engineering and other cross functional teams to develop detailed drawings from ideas, rough sketches, red line drawings and notes for new product developments as well as improvements/revisions to current products.

  • Experience with creating designs that integrate multiple electro-mechanical components (Motors, Solenoids, Actuators, Bearings, Slides, Couplers, Sheet Metal, Machined Parts, Molded Parts..) and associated technologies.

  • Demonstrated experience with designing, fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting and testing automated electromechanical and robotic assemblies.

  • Experience with 2D and 3D modeling.

  • Ability to create, read and interpret maintenance manuals, engineering specifications and assembly drawings.

  • Ability to create, perform and interpret test procedures as well as test reports.

  • Able to effectively solve problems, work independently on sub-assemblies and multi-task as required.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-starter, capable of working independently as well as building strong cross functional collaborative relationships.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and assist cross functional teams with the debugging of complex issues.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of Products.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 year Associate Degree in Mechanical Drafting / Design

  • Minimum 5 years Mechanical Drafting and Design related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ECR, ECO processes.

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)

  • Familiarity with Agile PLM Type Tools, LabView and Solid Works.

  • Working experience with FDA regulated, ISO13485, or other highly regulated environments.
