Neya Systems LLC Controls Engineer in Warrendale, Pennsylvania

Who We Are Neya is a leader in advanced robotics developing off-road autonomy for both commercial and defense customers. Our deep domain expertise spans semi-autonomy, autonomy, perception, and mission planning; all supporting a wide range of DoD and commercial thrust areas.  Our main center of gravity is in the Pittsburgh area, and we have teams located in RI and CO.

This position can be hybrid or in-person in our Pittsburgh, PA office.   Local candidates will receive preference.

We're looking for a Robotic Controls Engineer to support full-stack autonomy including perception, localization, navigation, and task optimization.  You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse set of robotics challenges ranging from control of large construction equipment, drone navigation and planning autonomous jet-ski perception, 3D scene reconstruction, and self-driving off-road vehicles. You will work with a strong team of scientists and engineers to help drive critical architecture decisions within our machine learning and computer vision pipeline.

What You’ll Do :

  • Design, develop, and implement control algorithms for autonomous and robotic systems

  • Utilize MATLAB and Simulink for modeling, simulation, and analysis of control systems

  • Write and maintain efficient and reliable code in C+

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with hardware and software components
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance

  • Enhance unified back-end architecture that coordinates tasking for multiplatform autonomy behaviors across a wide variety of UGVs and UAVs

  • Document design processes, methodologies, and results for internal and external stakeholders

    What You’ll Need :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, specifically in the fields of autonomy and robotics

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for control system design and simulation

  • Strong programming skills in C+

    • Solid understanding of control theory and its application in autonomous systems
  • Experience with system modeling, analysis, and optimization

  • Strong understanding of Agile software development cycle and development

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

    How to Stand Out:

  • Experience with publish/subscribe communication frameworks, especially ROS (Robot Operating System).

  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application in control systems

  • Experience with game engines (i.e., Unreal, Unity) and simulation frameworks based on them

  • Familiarity with hardware interfacing and embedded systems

    Travel:

    Yes, 15%-20% of the year

    In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $117,600-$146,000. Pay is generally based upon the level, complexity, responsibility, and job duties / requirements of the specific position. We then source candidates with the requisite skills, expertise, education, training, and experience.
