Henry Ford Warren Hospital is looking for an Internal Medicine Physician for our Internal Medicine Faculty practice. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Henry Ford Warren Hospital to precept and teach medical students and Internal Medicine residents. Duties include outpatient clinic and inpatient rounding responsibilities. In the outpatient clinic , there are approximately 150 outpatient visits per week. For the inpatient census, there are 4-20 patients per day.
Position Highlights:
The Internal Medicine Faculty assists the Program Director in all facets of the academic program.
The ACGME accredited program, which is affiliated with Michigan State University, trains 39 residents over a three-year cycle.
Opportunity to participate in didactics and lectures.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
Coordinates discharge planning with case management.
Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients. Accepts patient referrals from other physicians.
Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital. Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required Credential(s)
• Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
Preferred Credential(s)
• Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
Additional Preferences:
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program required.
• Requires ABMS or AOA Internal Medicine board certification or board eligible with certification after start date.
• Interest in teaching.
• Special interest in medical education, health services, research, patient safety and quality improvement is highly desirable.
