Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) Logistics Management Specialist in Warren, Michigan

About the Position: This position is under the supervision of the Combat Service and Combat Services Support Readiness and Sustainment (R&S) Directorate. The referral list(s) generated by this announcement may be used to fill future vacancies in other organizations throughout the Integrated Logistics Support Center (ILSC) in Warren, MI. Responsibilities Compiles and analyzes a variety of data based on current and projected logistics activities for factors such as availability and state of repair of equipment, breakdown rates, long or short-range planning for mission support, or operations. Coordinates with appropriate functional specialists in areas such as maintenance, materiel, quality assurance, and procurement, as well as with responsible personnel/offices within and outside TACOM. Determines trends and deficiencies in the logistics chain, which affect optimum readiness. Prepares and presents briefings, reports, analyses, and recommendations to assist in the formulation of logistics program planning and execution. Conduct operational readiness and logistics assessments of units. Attends, or chairs meetings, conferences, working groups, etc., to represent TACOM on assigned area of responsibility. Research and analyze data from multiple automated logistics systems and or sources for use in solving logistical issues Develop strategies and evaluate customer needs to recommend best course of action. Identify and resolve problems to lessen the impact on cost, schedule, performance and/or other logistics support requirements. Coordinate with staff to verify nature of problems, analyze specific processes, and provide assistance in increasing logistics support effectiveness. Utilize applicable data sources to research, identify, and assist in resolution of issues impacting supply availability and impact on Operational Readiness (OR) Rates. Coordinate information on sustainment problems to assist in determining course of action for expedited response and resolution. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Identifying logistics assistance necessary to improve equipment readiness; (2) Utilizing various data sources or web-based logistical support tools to provide logistics support; (3) Analyzing data to determine the effectiveness or efficiency of logistics management initiatives, policies or procedures; AND (4) Reviewing logistics support plans to identify problems or mitigate the impact on Operational Readiness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Acquisition Strategy Communications Supply Support Technical Competence Technical Problem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirements using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. This position has a Data Analytics requirement. All requirements for Data Analytics level one (1) certification must be met within 12 months of being placed on the position. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Position is designated non-critical sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 90 days or longer to process. The selectee may be allowed to start work prior to adjudication if management approved. Obtaining and maintaining a secret security clearance is a condition of employment. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly. This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet the position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics within 36 months of entrance on duty. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army Employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
