As a strategic partner, the HR Business Partner (HRBP-Labor) aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated divisions/departments. The HRBP serves as a consultant on Human Resource (HR) employee related issues. Successful HRBP will act as employee champion and change agent. HRBP assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions. The HRBP formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP interacts with assigned units to maintain a level of business acumen about the units' financial position, culture, and competition.

Job Responsibilities

Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations, disciplinary and grievance conferences. Issues employer grievance responses and participates in arbitrations.    Provides day to day performance management guidance to management and employees (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).    Works closely with management, employees and union leadership to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.

 Provides HR Policy, Procedure and collective bargaining agreement guidance and interpretation for all collective bargaining agreements and departmental policies.

 Participates in the collective bargaining process and serves as a member of the collective bargaining team.

 Develops and communicates HR and College policies and procedures that impact both unionized and non-unionized employees.    Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.    Assists with the offboarding process for employees.    Serve as a Title IX Advisor/Investigator for staff related cases. 

 Works collaboratively with the College staff unions to maintain a collegial and cooperative labor environment.   Participates on various departmental and College committees and special projects as required.   Serves as support person to other HR positions as the department functions in a cross-trained environment.   Assists with assessment testing for employee evaluation and training purposes.     Assists with background checks and onboarding processes.    Perform related Departmental duties as required.   Perform other duties as assigned by Human Resources Administration.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field of study is required. Master's degree and/or professional human resources certification is preferred.

Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation with valid insurance to accommodate occasional travel between campuses 

Qualifications

A minimum of two years human resources experience providing guidance and consultation to management and staff in the areas of employee relations and/or labor relations is required.

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, federal and state respective employment laws is required.

A minimum of two years human resources experience providing guidance and consultation to management and staff in the areas of compensation, employment, training, organizational development is preferred.

 A minimum of two years' experience in a union environment is preferred.
