ATS Scientific Products is searching for a Machinist to join the team!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities To provide machining expertise in support of manufacturing operations. To set up and operate manual machinery for the fabrication of parts Develop cutting process for mills based on engineering drawings and models. Configure tools and ensure efficient production. Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data in order to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates. Monitor output and proper operation of mechanical equipment. Make mechanical adjustments toensure parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements. Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work. Read Instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts that are being machined within a .001tolerance. Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality. Carry out other duties reasonable within capability as required by the Machine Shop Manager. Maintain a neat, clean and organized work area. Suggest changes for improved operations and cost savings Follow all safety policies, precautions, recommendations and procedures as may be applicable.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills

High School or GED Diploma required. Associates Degree or Certification in related field preferred. Minimum of 7+ years of experience with manual milling and/or lathe machine. Experience setting up and troubleshooting machines. Able to demonstrate good manufacturing practices and be able to select tooling and machining resources for  manufacture of parts. Strong mathematical skills. Blueprint with GD&T reading capabilities.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are typical of those an employee might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages. The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas. The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned. Some shop processes use high voltage arcs or concentrated magnetic fields.
