State of Montana Psychiatric Technician Part - time in Warm Springs, Montana

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a Psychiatric Technician at the Montana State Hospital. The Montana State Hospital (MSH) in Warm Springs provides inpatient psychiatric treatment for adults with serious mental illness. MSH is the only public psychiatric hospital in Montana that serves people admitted from communities across the state. Psychiatric Technicians (Psych Techs) *provide assistance and support to clients in a therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include supervises and accounts for patients; provides care as directed by medical and nursing providers; observes, reports, and documents information concerning patient’s physical, emotional, and behavior status; provides and assists with therapeutic activities and activities of daily living; maintains and protects patient rights; recognizes and appropriately responds using therapeutic communication and de-escalations techniques with patients. Employees who have successfully completed training will be placed in a specified work shift consisting of five (5) consecutive 8-hour workdays followed by two (2) consecutive days off. Upon completion of a six (6) month probationary period, employees may bid on a permanent work shift. Additionally, shift differential may available, and one meal is provided per shift. This position is eligible for a statutory $1.50 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2024, and a hiring incentive up to $7,500.
