Join our company and be part of an innovative team that’s First in Food. Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Keep buildings around the facility maintained and repaired. Painting, carpentry, tile, and block work are a few of the jobs to be performed DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adaptable to different aspects of construction including block work, concrete work, tile, carpentry, and painting. Good mechanical aptitude. Responsible for maintenance of facilities including rebuilding and repairing (walls, floors, ceiling, doors and etc…) Knowledge of all construction equipment. Responsible for and the use of all hand tools. Understands how to safely use a ladder, a fire extinguisher, tools (such as power and metal cutting tools), the 3 steps to the troubleshooting procedure and how to determine the size of wire used in a circuit. Adheres to safe work practices, following GMP’s, maintaining sanitary conditions and ensuring that product quality is maintained. Reports to management if any conditions or practices may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Ability to work in a safe manner. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, humid, and warm environment. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to become certified in LOTO (lock out tag out) and confined space. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others to complete work assignments. Has a CDL to back up drivers as needed. Has a Master Pumper Licence. Open to change. Positive interpersonal relationships. Able to work independently and with others in a team environment. Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction. Displays responsible behavior at work. Required to go to multiple locations. Responsible for maintaining an efficient, clean, and organized work area. Able to perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent CDL (Required) Master Pumper License (required) PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Good communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. Capabilities to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to safely lift 100 lbs. occasionally. Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders. Ability to climb 100 feet in the air and into 12 foot pits (Layer Farms only). Ability to work outside in the heat and cold for long periods of time.
