Position Title: Unexploded Ordnance Technician III

JOB SUMMARY
Unexploded Ordnance Technicians identify all types of discarded military munitions. They locate, extract, move, and consolidate any discarded military munitions. Unexploded Ordnance Technicians prepare firing systems, inspect materials to determine risks, and transport demolition materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to being able to fully perform all of the UXO Technician I and II functions, UXO Technician III personnel may: Supervise clearance/sweep teams; Supervise and perform the on-site demilitarization of munitions of explosive concern (MEC), and handling of demolition materials; Prepare an explosives storage plan per all applicable guidance; Prepare required UXO munitions response actions and/or range maintenance administrative reports; Prepare standard operating procedures for on-site munitions responses and/or for range clearance activities; Assist in performing risk and hazards analyses; Conduct daily site safety briefings; Supervise the conduct of all on-site UXO-related operations; and inspect and certify and/or verify Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) as safe, or as to the explosive hazard it may present for transfer within Department of Defense (DoD) or release from DoD control per current policies and standards. Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMEN TS
• Graduate of a qualified explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) school with at least eight years combined military and commercial UXO experience. As an exception, a UXOSO may be a graduate of a qualified UXO school and have at least eight years commercial UXO experience, as per DDESB TP18
• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification IAW 29 CFR 1910.120
• Current 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER Physical
• Ability to work outside normal work hours at short notice as dictated by work load
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret extensive variety of scientific and technical journals, governmental regulations, and deal with abstract and concrete variables
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, clients, project staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and/or public groups
• Ability to work away from primary work location in excess of normal work day
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
