TRAVEL REQUIRED: 10-20%

WORKING HOURS: Full time

Salary: 44-62 K gross depending on background and experience

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Unilever recognises Consumer Technical Insight (CTI) as an integral function partnering R&D Product and Packaging development. Our department delivers consumer technical insights using qualitative, quantitative consumer and sensory research to drive the delivery of outstanding innovations and preferred products in the market place.

Main objective of the Global Foods CTI researcher role is to help, plan and manage CTI research within the global CTI Foods programme and support the superior product designs in adherence to best practices, IPM, Unilever policies and Code of Business Principles. The CTI role presents an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about new product development to play a key role in supporting the Global R&D team through identifying opportunities to better meet consumer needs and drive profitable growth for Unilever’s Foods business.

JOB SUMMARY

Consumer & Product Insights for innovation and renovation Projects for Foods globally as well as regionally,

  • Review historical market, consumer and sensory data to help identify opportunities for superior products and claims, and providing the R&D teams with clear guidance on how to deliver these.

  • Identify what consumer research (quali & quant) is needed to deliver project objectives, develop the research brief, ensure execution according to best practice guidelines, and draw out clear and actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Developing work which is fact-based rather than fact-filled, focusing on story-telling, recommendations and outcomes.

  • Running hypothesis and scenarios in autonomous way, by using data and data analytics, to guide the R&D team in development of the best formulations.

  • Working collaboratively with regional CTI teams and partnering closely with Consumer Market Insights (partner to Marketing) to develop integrated consumer insight research plans.

  • And with a special focus on building digital excellence

  • Lead Preference Mapping and sensory studies across clusters

  • Support projects and teams to bring to extract competitive advantage from data capture, data mining skills to create strategic understanding,

  • Being familiar with the concept of predictive models and having the capability to support their further development

  • Interact with key external partners, regional CTI Foods teams, and cross category CTI teams to shape guidelines and best practices, deliver inspiration and new opportunities, including (digital) tools, and provide trainings

Effectively delivering CTI contribution to Foods projects on time in full (OTIF) and within agreed budget.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2 years of experience in the FMCG environment, with consumer, sensory, customer and/or market research.

  • Graduate qualification in human or food sciences, or experienced in a consumer or sensory insights role.

  • Strong affinity with data, data mining and data analysis - preferably experience with predictive modeling.

  • Working knowledge of consumer and / or sensory research approaches, and ability to work independently and strong planning skills.

  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams in the development of high impact innovative propositions in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Fluent English, second language is a plus

  • Solid verbal communi­cation skills, with ex­perience presenting to all levels of clients and co-workers with very good communication and influencing skills

  • Passionate about food and ambitious to deliver the best quality whilst being a good team player

  • Fully operational in MS office

  • Excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated and keen to help drive change in an organization.

  • Creative thinking to support the development of new ideas with volition and willingness to change.

  • Ability to convince and influence others.

  • Strong internal/external network builder.
