Tri-County Health Care PRN Ancillary Patient Access Representative in Wadena, Minnesota

We are looking for a PRN Ancillary Patient Access Representative to join our team! This individual will perform a variety of Business Office procedures associated with the patient registration and scheduling processes in a variety of departments including Rehab, Radiology, ReadyCare and the Emergency Department. All functions of this role are performed with a high degree of confidentiality.

This position will primarily cover every other weekend and Holiday, 3:00 - 11:00 pm shift in ED registration.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receives patients and visitors and ascertains their needs to assist them using a caring and professional manner

  • Secures demographic and financial information from patients or family, obtains necessary signatures and enters information into the electronic health record to complete the registration process

  • Schedules appointments and maintains provider schedules

  • Operates telephone console using a caring and professional manner to assist callers, answers questions and transfers calls to correct departments when appropriate

  • Ensures referrals are addressed and completed in a timely manner

  • Works department work queues, as assigned

Competencies Required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Positive attitude

  • Demonstrates high degree of commitment to customer service excellence

  • Strong computer skills, knowledgeable in Microsoft Office systems

  • Familiarity with medical terminology

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED, or in the process of obtaining

  • Post-secondary education with emphasis on office practices or previous office experience preferred
