Job Title: Graphic Controls Engineer
Job Description
Responsible for managing the equipment and software that control manufacturing processes. This person will work with different departments to set up control strategies for new equipment and improve controls on existing equipment. They also help maintenance and operations teams solve problems to keep the process running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Design and implement process control strategies for continuous and batch processes, including regulatory control, control sequences, logic, and advanced control.
Develop, modify, and enhance Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI).
Monitor control system performance through loop analysis and tuning.
Implement new control system technologies.
Support process problem-solving by identifying sources of process upsets and anomalies.
Develop and maintain alarm systems.
Support capital projects by justifying and managing them.
Identify areas for process control optimization.
Evaluate the efficiency of manufacturing technologies, instruments, equipment, and tools.
Drive process control innovation in collaboration with managers.
Recommend suitable software solutions and automate manufacturing processes.
Recruit process specialists and train teams on new processes.
Keep process control operations within budget without compromising quality and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Document processes and prepare progress reports.
Support mill and department goals in safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
3-4 years of process control experience (open to 2-3 years if they have a paper experience)
Knowledge of DCS (document control systems)
Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC)
BS Engineering Degree
Experience with Honeywell and Allen Bradley systems
Experience with ControlLogix and Honeywell Experion
Knowledge of process control systems
Experience in paper manufacturing
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in pulp and paper preferred
Time management skills
Ability to multitask
Flexible and self-motivated
Experience starting a line, department, or plant from the ground up
Work Environment
