Howmet Aerospace Machining Technician I - Tool Room in Waco, Texas

Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Machining Technician I in our Tool Room . This is an entry level position. The Trainee will be expected to gain the knowledge and experience to move into Machining Technician II. This position will be based in our Waco, TX plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.

  • Must be able to read gages, micrometers, scales, calipers and related precision measuring equipment.

  • Must have own hand tools.

  • Perform work on tool room equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related equipment.

  • Will be expected to do quality work and care for equipment.

  • Must keep work area clean and orderly.

  • Must wear safety equipment provided and work safely at all times.

  • Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.

  • Make out production reports, time cards and other reports or forms as required.

  • Maintains full compliance with Company policies and procedures and conducts all activities in accordance with the Howmet Code of Conduct.

  • Demonstrates a knowledge of and commitment to learn manufacturing principles and techniques.

  • Performs all work activities in accordance with safety and environmental standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Machining Technician I, 3rd shift, to join our Waco, TX team.

Salary:

  • Salary range for this position is $21.45 to $26.81 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a variety of manual and/or CNC metal cutting machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and related equipment.

  • Produce items including; tooling for production machines, repair parts, installation tooling parts, and fastener prototypes.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches to determine specifications of items to be produced.

  • Read gages, micrometers, scales, calipers and related precision measuring equipment to determine item conformance to specifications.

  • Perform work to dimensional tolerances.

  • Perform routine maintenance and adjustments on machine tools and equipment.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with 5-S principles.

  • Perform all work activities in accordance with safety and environmental standards.

  • Provide hand tools required for performance of assigned duties.

  • Maintains full compliance with Company policies and procedures and conducts all activities in accordance with the Howmet Guide to Business Conduct.

  • Demonstrates a knowledge of and commitment to lean manufacturing principles and techniques.

  • Performs all work activities in accordance with safety and environmental standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience utilizing machine tools to perform precision metal cutting operations. This may include Technical school education.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical school education in machining

Skills:

  • Good communication skills & knowledge of basic shop math

  • Ability to read, write and understand basic instructions in English
