SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility for the Procurement Analyst (Fiber Buyer) is to buy and manage secondary fiber for GPI’s CRB Waco, TX paperboard manufacturing facility (PMF) at the lowest possible cost based upon quality, availability, and market conditions. This position must assist in maintaining adequate supply and inventory levels while reacting to domestic and export competition, fluctuating generation, and changing PMF production. The position requires adherence to all PMF safety requirements.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
Maintain proper inventory levels to insure smooth operations in any market/mill runnability.
Set pricing monthly to remain competitive in the marketplace.
Seek out and inform management of any low-cost opportunity grades to reduce cost.
Maintain pricing/accuracy in Furnish Tracking system for best upper management cost decisions on grade mix and getting suppliers paid correctly.
Resolving any discrepancies with suppliers as appropriate. Maintain good supplier relationships to maintain the right quality, at the right price, the right time.
Monitor and improve incoming quality to be able to generate the best quality board and the lowest possible cost.
Participate on the mill cost reduction team.
Auditing the weight tickets into the Furnish Tracking system.
Department administration
Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND / EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years buying/procurement experience.
5+ years of experience collaborating with domestic competitors in this industry.
5+ years of experience working with wastepaper grades.
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of transportation modes/cost.
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of cost analysis, inventory control, and quality control.
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of market analysis, forecasting, and pricing of grades.
Good oral and written communication skills. Job requires composing written communications such as letters, procedures, and reports/proposals.
Four-year degree preferred.
Computer skills (to include Word and Excel)
Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
