Overview

Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TSS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.

About the Role

We are seeking a mid-level Web Developer to support a Tribal Implementation Center (TIC) under the Public Health Data Modernization Program. The center will provide technical assistance and aid Tribes and Tribal organizations in data modernization efforts while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty.

The Web Developer will develop, maintain, and enhance web-based platforms. This role involves working closely with the team to ensure seamless communication, data sharing, and project management for Tribal health programs. This position will play a critical role in the systematic capture, curation, and sharing of data across the Tribal IC and other stakeholders, ensuring that the web-based tools align with the goals and objectives of the program.

This is a fully remote position that can be based in Atlanta, GA or anywhere in the U.S. Some travel (15% of time) will be required to various locations in the U.S. to attend meetings, conferences, etc. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

Website Development and Maintenance:

  • Develop, manage, and update the web-based collaboration space for the PHIG Tribal IC.

  • Ensure that the website supports communication, data sharing, and project status updates in real-time.

  • Implement and maintain WordPress-based solutions to provide a cost-effective and scalable web platform.

Data Management and Integration:

  • Collaborate with the team to develop an easy-to-use data collection tool tailored for Tribal participants to capture indicator data.

  • Support the integration of various data collection tools such as REDCap, Google Forms, and SurveyMonkey, ensuring seamless data ingestion and analysis.

  • Work with National Partners (NPs) to identify and implement the appropriate tools and solutions for data collection and sharing.

User Experience and Compliance:

  • Ensure the website adheres to public health program’s web standards, including 508 compliance and SEO best practices.

  • Regularly review and optimize the user experience to ensure ease of use across all web platforms.

  • Provide ongoing support for usability improvements based on user feedback and site metrics.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Coordinate with Tribal IC members, NPs, and other stakeholders to ensure the website meets the needs of the community.

  • Participate in regular and ad hoc meetings to update the implementation plan and website as required.

  • Support the dissemination of best practices and lessons learned through the website and other digital channels.

Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in web development, particularly using WordPress and other content management systems.

  • Strong understanding of data management tools and web-based data collection methods.

  • Familiarity with Section 508 compliance and SEO best practices.

  • Demonstrated cultural competence in providing services to or working with Tribes and Tribal organizations while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty highly desired.

  • Experience collaborating with a variety of stakeholders and external partners.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to show initiative, think critically, analyze situations and data, and solve problems.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media and Web Technology, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or related field preferred. Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to travel (15% of time) to various locations in the U.S. to attend meetings, conferences, etc.
