At Jack Henry, we deliver technology solutions that are digitally transforming and empowering community banks and credit unions to provide enhanced and streamlined user experiences to their customers and members. Our best-in-class products are just the start as we lay the groundwork for the future of digital banking and payments. We hope you'll join us. We can't do it without you.

We are seeking a hands-on, technically skilled leader for a team of talented engineers to continue our pursuit of building modern observability platforms. This role involves working with multiple infrastructure and product teams at Jack Henry. You will directly contribute to improving the reliability and scale of our observability platforms by engineering solutions that offer a holistic view of our applications and infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background and the spirit of adventure to build something new by empowering and building high-impact teams.

Here’s who you are: You are an SRE, Infrastructure Engineer, Developer, or Observability engineer with a desire to build high-performing teams by mentoring and empowering team members. You also desire to ensure systems and applications are observable, providing insights for engineers to understand, share, and validate changes to their software in distributed IaC environments. You can advocate and lead change towards modern platforms and tooling across the enterprise. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and remain hands-on at an expert level while providing leadership to the team.

This position can be based to work out of any Jack Henry office or remotely from any US location.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Develop engineers on the team, providing them with formative experience and direction.

  • Recruit great engineers in collaboration with our staff and recruiting team.

  • Contribute towards scalable and resilient observability architecture.

  • Work with engineering teams to provide best practices and guidance on observability strategies.

  • Collaborate with our Developer Experience team on contributions to our internal developer platform to provide self-service capabilities and the implementation of various observability metrics.

  • Perform hiring, termination, objective setting, performance appraisals, coaching, and merit reviews.

  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

    What you'll need to have:

  • A minimum of 7 years of combined experience in cloud, infrastructure, or observability engineering and/or working in infrastructure-as-code environments.

  • Experience with Terraform.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • Previous leadership experience required with highly technical teams (manager, supervisor, mentor, team lead, or project lead).

  • Ability to travel up to 5% for team meetings and conferences.

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Comfortable planning team roadmaps.

  • Experience with DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, Google Monitoring, Honeycomb, Refinery, and OpenTelemetry.

  • Managed teams that designed and operated critical infrastructure, particularly with a focus on building reliable and secure mission-critical infrastructure.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills, with a track record of leading and guiding remote and distributed teams.

  • Experience working across teams on requirements gathering, deployments, migrations, and/or security initiatives.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this opportunity. Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement on this positing, we still encourage you to apply. We're eager to meet motivated people who align with Jack Henry's mission and can contribute to our company in a variety of ways.
