THE ROLE : The Sr. Service Center Technician will be responsible for performing mechanical and/or electrical service duties (troubleshooting and repairing of pumps and other products) on the phone, in the shop and at field locations. In this role, the incumbent will also perform other duties related to the running and maintenance of the shop. Xylem will provide paid training for CDL upgrades (if applicable).

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps and other equipment or products

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on equipment between each rental

  • Handle or assist in shipping and receiving duties for new or rental equipment/parts

  • Maintain shop equipment and tools, stock levels of pumps, parts and other products, including rental banks (if applicable)

  • Assist customers with various service and sales related problems (may include assisting with pump/part selection)

  • Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment as directed (air dryer, chain saws, etc.)

  • Perform and/or assist in project assignments, reports, and processing/maintenance of all required paperwork.

  • May order and/or make local purchases of shop supplies, parts and prepare cost estimates as needed

  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours

  • Other duties may be assigned based on the business needs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; 2-year technical training or equivalent preferred

  • 2+ years’ experience diagnosing mechanical or electrical issues and equipment maintenance

  • Must be able to obtain DOT certification, valid driver’s license and good history (if service vehicle is required)

  • Light construction experience a plus

  • Ability to read wiring schematics and have a basic understanding of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devices

  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot logical processes and basic knowledge of circuit testing

Salary range:

$51,500.00 - $82,500.00
