Position Summary:

Job Profile Summary

Partners with management to guide the administration of payroll, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time. Acts a backup for the Payroll Manager and serves as a senior resource to team members.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the processing of bi-weekly multi-state payroll, including garnishments and taxes consistent with all federal, state, and local regulations. Monitors bank activity for direct deposit returns.

  • Owns and completes the regular preparation of relevant management reports including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports, as well as special reports as needed.

  • Administers and maintains electronic timekeeping system, including implementing quality control measures to ensure payroll system transactions are working without error.

  • Creates and maintains processes and controls needed to operate effectively while mitigating risk.

  • Partners cross-functionally to ensure the alignment and implementation of payroll processes as needed.

  • Responsible for year-end close procedures including the reconciliation of W-2s and year-end tax filings.

  • Reviews, audits, and balances timecards and payroll related inputs. Ensures proper documentation and calculates and processes changes as needed.

  • Works closely with other P&C team members to ensure all payroll related activities are handled correctly, including all relevant Workday transactions and benefit eligibility rules. Reconciles records as needed.

  • Works with team members and vendors to resolve payroll, benefits, and tax related issues, ensuring timely resolution. Ensures deductions and contributions are reconciled and accurate.

  • Processes and reconciles invoices and payments for multiple vendors.

  • Participates in the annual vendor review process.

  • Ensures data integrity. Identifies trends, cost drivers, and savings opportunities that align with total rewards strategy.

  • Reviews, helps identify, recommends, and implements solutions and improvements to various Payroll and Benefits processes, programs, and system-related processes aimed at improving efficiency of effectiveness of People & Culture.

  • Assists with any internal and external audits and examinations, including benefits activities to ensure accuracy of payroll deductions. Identifies root cause for data issues and partners with Benefits Administrator to take corrective action on problems found. Works with internal and external partners for support on more complex matters.

  • Supports the development and implementation of benefits related audits and controls, trainings and communications strategies, tools, and processes to improve accuracy, team member engagement and regulatory compliance.

  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of Lumeris benefit offerings and plan designs to review existing benefit plans and perform reconciliation and audits.

  • Participates in industry wide surveys, reviews results, and benchmarks current programs.

  • Researches, reviews, and evaluates new and existing benefits programs. Recommends benefit plan design changes and providers.

  • Supports project management for benefit and wellness related activities, including but not limited to, vendor audits and reconciliations and Workday enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent

  • 5+ of payroll experience or the knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in the role

  • Experience with multi-state payroll and tax

  • Thorough knowledge of payroll administration, including federal/state regulations

  • Advanced skills with Workday payroll system

  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes related to payroll including payroll reconciliations

  • Demonstrated success and productivity in a changing, fast paced environment with constant interruptions

  • Polished time-management skills, including the ability to take initiative, interpret moderately complex programs,, develop realistic goals/metrics, resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion and ensure adherence to timelines

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to review and interpret data

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interpret and communicate complex processes/programs at all levels internally and externally

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and investigatory skills

  • Ability to identify and/or support implementing process improvements and initiatives

  • Strong critical thinking, researching, and problem-solving skills

  • Required to pass a credit check​

The hiring range for this position is:

$72,800.00-$97,400.00
