Job Description

The School of Engineering at Texas A&M International University is in need for a Machine shop Technician/Machinist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage, operate, and maintain TAMIU machines; computer numerical controlled and manual equipment (Mill and Lathe machines).

  • Maintain tooling and quality performance.

  • Assist in training sessions on CNC machines and software, and provide technical assistance to students, staff, and faculty.

  • Assist students in different courses such as Computer Integration Manufacturing, Engineering Project Management and Proposals, and Senior Design

  • Keep the work area and equipment clean, orderly, and perform routine maintenance are required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School Diploma or GED.

  • May not be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Texas A&M International University.

  • Experience - Working in metal machine shops and with CNC machines.

  • Experience - Measurement and Design Tools, with basic-to-intermediate computer skills.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to interact effectively and in a professional manner with the university community, public, and the students to be served.

  • Ability to set up, program, and operate CNC controls.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work, as well as attend to detail.

  • Position is contingent upon funding/need
