The Software Applications Developer III (ORACLE PL SQL) serves as technical lead for a specific software development project or service. Provides technical oversight for the application of and compliance with technical standards. Coordinates the technical activities of a software development project team. Completes reports and summaries for management and users including project status reports, problem reports, and progress summaries.

What You Need To Know:

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Other Requirements and Factors: Provide on-call support on nights and weekends as needed. Position is required to occasionally work outside regularly scheduled hours as determined by supervisor (in cases of critical system upgrades, critical system support, and/or the timely completion of major information technology projects). THIS POSITION IS ON CAMPUS/IN PERSON. PARTIAL TELECOMMUTING 2 DAYS A WEEK PERMITTED.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years of software applications developer experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Pass test on knowledge of programming using SQL and PL/SQL.

  • Skill and knowledge in applying solutions to problems through the design and development of computer programs, software, and applications.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with both business users and IT professionals.

  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and customer service orientation.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

  • 10%: SYSTEM ANALYSIS Researches and analyzes the business and technical problems faced by Student Business Services and then designs, recommends and/or implements technical solutions.

  • 10%: Responsible for APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT, including program complex and complicated database modules and interfaces. Uses personal judgement and decision-making skills during this process.

  • 15%: Provide SOFTWARE QUALITY ASSURANCE, including provide quality assurance to ensure system standards are followed; and ensure both programming standards and standards within the application are adhered to.

  • 10%: Conduct APPLICATION DESIGN, including creates and maintain Accounts Receivable database information for use in billing, refunding and reporting; conduct an impact analysis of changes in processes; and program and conduct simulations of possible impact of policy/procedure changes based on available data.

  • 10%: Perform DATABASE DESIGN with assistance from the database administrator aids in database development and design; upgrade current database processes; aid in analysis of existing data structure to seek out inefficiency; and use this analysis to suggest and implement database structure improvements.

  • 10%: Determine SCOPE DEVELOPMENT, including work with clients and functional analysts to determine automation specifications and develop detailed system design documents for client approval.

  • 10%: Perform SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT, including analyze, design, develop and maintain software applications and database system changes as necessary to automate and redesign business processes.

  • 5%: Provide SOFTWARE DOCUMENTATION, including serve as software lead in the peer review of custom Accounts Receivable code and provides system documentation process required by Student Business Services.

  • 10%: Perform additional CORE DUTIES, including may coordinate the technical activities of a project team; complete reports and summaries for management and/or users including status reports, problem reports, progress summaries, and system utilization reports; serve as a senior member of an information resource team responsible for setting technical direction; and perform all or some of the duties of a Senior Software Applications Developer.

  • 5%: Participate in TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT as available.

  • 5%: Perform Other Duties as assigned.
