Community Health Systems Senior Director of Technology Strategy and Continuous Improvement in United States

The Senior Director of Technology Strategy and Continuous Improvement drives the evolution of CHS’s technology ecosystem by integrating advanced analytics, AI-driven decision-support frameworks, strategic planning, and continuous improvement. This role emphasizes transformative leadership, enabling the shift from foundational to optimized organizational maturity levels across operational and technical capabilities. Leveraging expertise in data analytics and predictive modeling, the Senior Director ensures that technology strategies deliver measurable business and clinical outcomes, supporting the organization's mission to achieve excellence through innovation and precision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Shape and execute a visionary technology strategy rooted in advanced analytics and decision-support systems, aligned with organizational priorities.

  • Lead enterprise-wide Centers of Excellence in Strategic Planning, Analytics, and Process Improvement to deliver impactful, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders to identify strategic initiatives and prioritize investments that deliver high-value outcomes.

  • Serve as a thought leader in emerging technologies, particularly in AI and data-driven solutions, fostering innovation and value creation in healthcare.

Decision Support and Analytics

  • Lead the design, deployment and delivery of AI-driven decision-support systems that transform technology data into actionable insights, enabling strategic execution and improved resource allocation.

  • Establish a robust analytics framework that integrates real-time metrics, predictive modeling, and reporting systems, ensuring alignment with Digital strategic objectives.

  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs, ensuring timely reporting and clear communication of results to leadership.

  • Provide transparency into the technology spend and decision- support for cost reduction.

  • Drive innovation by introducing AI-driven tools and frameworks that improve decision-making and operational efficiency.

Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement

  • Drive organizational transformation by identifying inefficiencies and implementing data-driven process improvements through Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies.

  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement across the enterprise, emphasizing measurable outcomes and sustainable progress.

  • Identify inefficiencies in IT and organizational workflows, recommending and implementing process improvements.

  • Lead enterprise-wide change management efforts, ensuring successful adoption of new technologies and practices.

Thought Leadership

  • Oversee the development and modernization of technology portfolios, focusing on scalable analytical and decision-support tools.

  • Collaborate with data governance and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance and uphold the integrity of advanced analytical frameworks.

  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to integrate technology solutions that enhance both patient care and organizational performance.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative culture that emphasizes analytics, decision support, and innovation.

  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives that align analytics-driven technology strategies with organizational goals, ensuring a seamless integration of technology and business priorities.

  • Manage departmental budgets, aligning resource allocation with organizational priorities.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in delivering enterprise-wide IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MBA, MS, or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematical or Statistical Modeling) in a relevant field is preferred.

Experience

  • Proven success in transforming technology organizations to higher maturity levels through data-driven strategies, analytics, and AI-powered solutions.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in strategic planning, decision support, or analytics, preferably in the healthcare or regulated industries.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead Centers of Excellence in Strategic Planning, Process Improvement, and Analytics to deliver measurable outcomes.

Skills

  • Strategic Leadership: Expertise in aligning technology strategies with business priorities to drive innovation and measurable results. Strategic thinker with the ability to execute in a dynamic environment.

  • Advanced Analytics Expertise: Extensive experience in designing KPI/KRI frameworks, and AI-based decision-support systems and predictive modeling to optimize decision-making and resource allocation.

  • Data-driven Process Optimization: Skilled in applying Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies to enhance workflows and operational efficiency.

  • Healthcare Experience: Deep understanding of healthcare industry challenges, workflows, and compliance requirements.

  • Transformation Leadership: Demonstrated ability to elevate organizational maturity in analytics, decision support, and operational capabilities.

  • Technical Acumen: In-depth knowledge of modern IT frameworks, including cloud-based architectures, AI-driven solutions, and cybersecurity best practices.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building consensus across diverse teams.

  • Change Management: Strong ability to lead large-scale organizational change initiatives, ensuring successful adoption of new technologies and practices.

  • Problem Solving: Expert at analyzing complex issues and developing innovative, data-driven solutions.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to read, analyze, and interpret complex data.

  • May occasionally need to travel to organizational facilities or partner locations.
