This position reports to the finance/accounting department at Daktronics. The finance/accounting team serves Daktronics stakeholders – employees, customers, vendors, shareholders, and community. Our work is focused on enabling Daktronics’ success by being trusted advisors, guiding or supporting company compliance and risk management efforts, being operationally excellent, and developing ourselves and the team. We have the responsibility to prepare accurate financial statements, as well as provide useful financial information to various departments within Daktronics. As part of this responsibility, the accounting department assists in internal control design, subsidiary financial information, and other key business activities.

The SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will be a subject matter expert on regulatory and statutory compliance. Responsibilities for this position also include the timely production of an accurate SEC document following presentation to upper management and external parties. This position will present proposed and current changes related to statutory reporting to the management team and train appropriate accounting personnel of changes. In addition, this position will assist in creating project plans to change and implement processes and systems relating to new regulatory and internal control requirements.

What are my responsibilities:

  • Preparation and coordination of Forms 10-K and 10-Qs, related footnotes and supporting schedules.

  • Preparation of XBRL tagging in accordance with SEC regulations.

  • Preparation and participation with other SEC filings for transactions such as business combinations, debt/equity registration statements, etc.

  • Preparation and review of financial information within investor presentations and press releases.

  • Quarterly account reconciliations and analytic preparation.

  • Serve as a super user of the Company’s financial reporting tools.

  • Preparation of SEC and/or GAAP checklists, memos, and other compliance documentation.

  • Conduct annual internal control scoping and coordination of walk-throughs processes.

  • Coordinate audit support and review filings with external auditors.

  • Collaborate with senior management, CFO, and controllers in the preparation of press releases and financial statement disclosures.

  • Identify process improvements, implement changes, and ensure best practices.

  • Work on special projects and analysis as required.

  • Keep current with emerging accounting and reporting guidance and trends including FASB standards and interpretations, SEC releases, and speeches and develop training material for internal education.

  • Lead financial research efforts and documentation of the impacts of new accounting pronouncements.

  • Assist in the implementation plan for new accounting pronouncements implementation to incorporate changes needed in ERP and other systems and leads changes needed in processes.

  • Preparation and coordination of 11-K and DEF 14A.

  • Implementation and monitoring of control related applications and analytics and artificial intelligence tools to enhance the overall strength and efficiency of our environment.

    Where will I be working?

    Daktronics offers the flexibility to work from a U.S. home or Daktronics location. This opportunity is open to U.S. based candidates. Exact working hours are flexible, but this position will be based on working during regular business hours in the Central Standard Time zone.

    Qualifications

    What do I need to be qualified?

    A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required plus 5 or more years of SEC reporting experience. Preference is to have an advanced degree in accounting or a CMA or CPA license. You will also need demonstrated experience in the areas listed below:

  • Understanding of financial accounting concepts and US GAAP, especially inventory valuation.

  • Managerial accounting capabilities to produce information for decision making.

  • Information systems understanding, especial ERP and reporting applications.

  • Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking.

  • Ability to identify, measure, analyze, and interpret accounting information to help managers make decisions.

  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a team.

  • Continued willingness and desire to learn and be flexible with an evolving workload.

  • Strong organizational skills including managing multiple and changing priorities with accuracy.

  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating collaboration with others and effective relationship development.

  • Superior English language written and verbal communication skills.

  • Commitment to following policies and procedures and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement.

  • Knowledge of, or aptitude to learn, business intelligence software solutions such as Reporting Services, Power BI, and Business Planning and Consolidation software.  SQL knowledge beneficial, but not required.

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and/or Microsoft reporting and analytical software.

  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked. Ability to travel periodically to other Daktronics locations. Must meet Daktronics Qualified Driver definition.
