Responsibilities You will provide input to proposed local or higher authority Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations, policies and beneficial suggestions. You will research and develop resolutions of occupational health problems. You will develop surveillance criteria and audit plans for conducting audits to determine the effectiveness of the detachments, and the contractor's OSH program. You will provide consulting services to detachment departments/offices, contractors, and Ships Force, with respect to the requirements for and effectiveness of existing/proposed measures for the reduction or elimination of employee health hazards. You will identify hazards to employees in the workplace, obtaining OSH training for detachment personnel of all ship classes supported by Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Gulf Coast. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For GS-12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning and conducting inspections for a safety and occupational health program to evaluate current safety procedures and develop recommendations that aim to eliminate environmental accidents, mishaps, and potential hazards. For GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning or conducting inspections for a safety and occupational health program to evaluate current safety procedures or develop recommendations that aim to eliminate environmental accidents, mishaps, and potential hazards. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
