If you are a Safety & Health Professional or an Engineering Professional interested in or studying Safety & Health as a career path, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you!

This role is an opportunity to support the Copeland HVACR Technologies business based in our Sidney, OH location assisting and leading projects under the direct leadership of the site Safety & Health Manager.

Safety Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of safety and health programs and processes to enhance Copeland’s workplace safety culture and risk prevention.

  • Partner with the leadership team, salary employees, and hourly employees to solve problems, driving continuous improvement.

  • Coordinating and facilitating safety education to employees on best safety practices and programs, this will include new hire and annual training requirements.

  • Conducting workplace incident analysis driving to the root cause with the goal of elimination and minimization of risk.

  • Evaluation of current work procedures and processes to uncover risk factors and recommend elimination strategies to the leadership team.

  • Track data through safety and health reporting process and prepare associated reports to the leadership team. This will include but not limited to KPI Metrics related to leading and lagging indicators.

  • Support worker's compensation case management in collaboration with the Environmental Health and Safety Leader, Human Resources and Nursing Staff.

  • Partner with the leadership team, driving corrective actions to closure and reassessment.

  • Partner with engineering team to implement engineering controls to Prevent/Eliminate/ Minimize potential safety and health hazards.

  • Promote safety and health awareness through formal program, development, and presentations, coordinate safety training programs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, or a related field

  • Minimum of 1 - 3 (one-three) years in safety & health, co-op experience will be considered.

  • A strong background in public safety and security, safety management, chemistry, physics, or a related field.

  • Work Authorization in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification

  • Familiarity with Ohio Worker's Compensation processes

Safety Engineer Skills and Specifications

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and standards

  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to OSHA, NFPA, ANSI regulations, Behavior Based Safety programs and management methods

  • Excellent communication skills and good presentation skills

  • Customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Problem solving

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Flexible Work Schedule – Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.
